Acidity and Overall Health

One of the first things I noticed after beginning to drink Organo Gold Coffee (and quitting Starbucks) was that I was free of stomach pain and digestive issues.  At first I didn’t even understand why it was happening but I will say I was very pleased.

For about 15 years, I would stop into Starbucks every morning on my way into work (when I had a real JOB- LOL), and get my daily mocha and some type of pastry, muffin, scone, etc. because I felt like it would decrease my stomach discomfort a little bit if I had some food with my coffee.  It did help somewhat, but the daily stomach pains and bloated feeling was still there.

Some of you are probably asking, “well why on earth would you continue to drink Starbucks if it was making you feel bad”?  That’s a very good question and the only answer I have is that it was my addiction and addicted people don’t always make the most intelligent choices.  In fact, coffee IS America’s No. 1 addiction so I know I’m not the only guilty party.  And don’t even get me started on how much money I was spending each month on coffee and overpriced pastries!

In fact, now I DO drink my coffee every morning on an empty stomach (because Organo Gold Coffee is non-acidic it doesn’t give me ANY negative effects).  I’ve never been an early-morning breakfast eater.  I honestly just don’t feel hungry until at least 9:30 or 10:00 a.m. but I don’t ever want to wait that long for my coffee.  With Organo Gold, I don’t have to.

The reason I’m sharing this information about my own health issues is because I want to talk about the IMPORTANCE of watching the amount of acidic foods/beverages we consume.

The Effect of High Body Acidity on Overall Health

Excess body acidity is thought to be the first step towards aging prematurely, can weaken the immune system, can lead to heart and circulation problems, arthritis, joint and ligament issues, kidney stones, osteoporosis, cancers, and the list goes on.  In fact, medical studies are confirming that body acidity is implicated, in some manner, in almost all diseases.  THAT’S DISTURBING!

We need to be aware of this important health risk and seek out products that are more alkaline.  Traditional coffee is extremely acidic.  In fact, to neutralize the amount of acid in ONE cup of traditional coffee, a person would need to drink 14-16 glasses of water!  When I first heard this, I thought of 15+ years of Starbucks coffee consumption and then it clicked for me that this was the reason I was having negative digestive issues.

holton-picWhen I joined Organo Gold, I understood that quality leadership was crucial for a young company to have a solid foundation for a successful long-term future.  I believe that Organo Gold has some of the best and most knowledgeable leadership available today.  Mr. Holton Buggs is the Vice President of Sales and has an extensive background in Network Marketing.  He is one of the TOP INCOME EARNERS in the Network Marketing Industry world-wide!  He is a true visionary and has very big plans to get Organo Gold open in approximately 80+ countries in the world.

Here’s a short interview with Mr. Buggs which was featured in “Success From Home” Magazine several months ago.

SFH:  The coffee industry has exploded in the past few years, so how has Organo Gold been able to thrive with so much competition?

HB:  Organo Gold thrives on simplicity.  Our system is designed so that the new distributor with no experience can have success.  The foundation of our business model is acquiring and retaining wholesale and retail customers.  The two most important parts of this process are the 4 Questions and the 4 Steps to Success. The 4 Questions is a rejection-free process of giving a free sample to become retail customers, and one out of every five to become a distributor.  Many of our distributors are successful using this approach.  The 4 Steps to Success is designed to train those who become distributors to develop into business leaders and teach the same process to others.

SFH:  How natural has it been for Organo Gold to expand and grow internationally with a product that is so widely consumed ? 

HB:  Expansion for Organo Gold has been a fun experience. Most companies target areas in which they believe their product will thrive.  Organo Gold has been able to expand internationally through its top leadership.  Coffee is so universal that we never are concerned about market acceptance. Organo Gold has one of the most culturally diverse environments in the direct sales industry. Through the eyes of our distributors, the world is our marketplace.

Turning Coffee Into Gold

The Queen of Ganoderma

marianneOrgano Gold would not be the same without its very own extraordinary health practitioner who is both an expert and relentless crusader on the subject of Ganoderma (the healthy ingredient that is infused into Organo Gold Coffee)!  Marianne Noad is known at Organo Gold as the “Queen of Ganoderma”, a title she proudly wears.

thailand-picI keep telling everyone I know that Organo Gold is having “off-the-charts” momentum and I woke up this morning to find out that we are getting ready to open in Thailand!  What a nice surprise to know that there’s yet another country where this incredible company and product will be making a difference in peoples’ lives!

The Power of the Coffee Industry

dunkin-donuts-picI ran across this picture a few days ago and I was reminded about how powerful the coffee industry really is.  As a kid growing up in the Midwest, I lived just down the street from a Dunkin’ Donuts and I loved riding my bike down there to get my tasty treat at least 3 times per week (donuts were inexpensive and it was so much fun trying all the different flavors).  My mom would hand me money and I’d stop by my friend’s house, she’d grab her bike and we’d ride towards the wonderful smell of fresh donuts waiting for us. Our Dunkin’ Donuts was located right next door to our local McDonald’s.

Some of you may be too young to remember this, but the Dunkin’ Donuts logo used to be a donut with a bite out of it.  I still remember that to this day.

When I started to educate myself about the coffee business (because I had been introduced to Organo Gold and was considering getting into the coffee business myself), one of the things that they mentioned was that, in 2002,Dunkin’ Donuts changed their logo to a cup of coffee.  When I got home I Googled it and sure enough, the donut with a bite out of it was no longer the logo.  It was, indeed, a coffee cup.

The reason this is significant and the reason I’m writing this blog post is because it’s a big step for a company to change a well-known and well-loved logo!!  It’s not something companies do every day.  I learned that the reason for this is because they wanted to switch their focus from donuts to coffee because “coffee sales” are so lucrative!  In fact, you can purchase Dunkin’ Donuts coffee in grocery stores everywhere.

There’s a whole lot of money to be made in the coffee industry.  In fact, it’s the Number Two traded commodity in the world (second only to gas and oil).

Over 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed in the world every day!  Americans, alone, drink 400 million of those daily cups.  Here are some other companies who have switched their company’s focus to coffee in order to increase revenues:

  • McDonald’s (Instead of being known for Ronald McDonald, they are now known for the McCafe)
  • Burger King (They came out with the Iced Mocha after McDonald’s came out with the McCafe)
  • Nestle (They introduced Nescafe to the American market)
  • Subway (I remember thinking it was odd when Subway started featuring a breakfast menu, but I now know it’s because they wanted to take advantage of the significant proft-margin on coffee).
  • Nordstrom (which started out as a shoe company in 1901 now has their own “E-Bar” so they can serve coffee).

There are other companies who have followed this path.  I was even driving through Del Taco recently and noticed that that they are now offering coffee.  My first thought was that coffee and tacos didn’t seem like a very appetizing combo but then I remembered that they have a breakfast menu as well.  And as a business, it’s a smart move.  Many companies are jumping on the coffee bandwagon and why not, since it’s such a money-making enterprise.
